Each locality has a description of the locality and access, including a map for most. Other information includes recommendations for the equipment to use and sources for other information that the rockhound may find useful. There are many black and white photos of the minerals and a special section of color photos of the minerals. Collecting Arkansas Minerals is 149 pages long, contains black and white photographs, color photographs, maps and is softcover.
About the Author
Arthur E. Smith, Jr. is a geologist who has worked in the petroleum industry for over 30 years. He has been collecting minerals since 1956 and first collected in Arkansas in 1958. He has been collecting with the Coon Creek Association each fall for over 20 years and specializes in Magnet Cove minerals and microminerals in particular.
