Book Description
From the tragedy of World War II to the height of haute couture, this book takes you from the genesis of miniature mannequins with the famous Theatre de la Mode to display mannequins and sewing kits found in sewing stores of the 1940's and 50's. Baby Boomers will recognize the miniature sewing mannequin sets from their childhood when proper young ladies learned to sew for their future families. This collector's price guide features 200 full-colored photos of miniature mannequins.

About the Author
Doris has been collecting dolls for the past 25 years and currently has about 1,000 various fashion dolls. She loves the fashion over the doll, and believes that the doll is just a mannequin waiting to be dressed.

Doris has written articles for several magazines including Miller's Fashion Doll Magazine and Doll Reader magazine. She also does freelance doll designs for Paradise Galleries in San Diego. One of her designs was recently used on a Patricia Rose groom doll. Doris' design work has been recognized and featured in Riverside Press Enterprise, Miller's Fashion Doll Magazine, and in Jim Faraone's 2nd Fashion Doll Makeovers: Learn from the Artists book. Doris has won several awards for her designs and was the promoter of two Fashion Doll Conventions for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which raised $20,000 for that wonderful organization.

Doris owns Fashion Boulevard, a new and upcoming fashion doll company, that manufactures couture fashion for the 15-1/2 inch - 16 inch (39cm - 41 cm) fashion dolls, and hopefully will soon have a new 16 in (41 cm) fashion doll of her own on the market. This has been a dream of hers from the time she started designing her own fashions.
