Book Description
Follow the advice given in this excellent, highly illustrated manual, and learn how to increase your enjoyment and satisfaction from this popular sport. Fitness is vital, just as much for the complete novice out for a hack as for the professional competing at international level: both horse and rider will undoubtedly gain more pleasure from their chosen activity, and will operate more competently, if they have managed to attain a level of fitness.

For some riders this is a difficult task due to lack of time (or perhaps inclination!), but here popular trainer Jane Holderness-Roddam demonstrates how easily fitness can be achieved using proven techniques and exercises, many designed specifically for the horse rider.

The horse's well-being is equally important: Jane provides sensible, practical advice on every aspect of his basic care and management, and discusses in full how to prepare a horse for the particular demands of specific disciplines.

About the Author
Jane Holderness-Roddam, won Badminton in 1968 and 1978, and was the first British girl to compete at the Olympics when she was part of the gold medal team at Mexico with Our Nobby. She won Burghley with Warrior in 1976, gained a team gold medal at the European Championships in 1977, and was a team member at the World Championships in Kentucky the following year.

She is a member of the Horse Trials committee, former chairman of the selection committee and is a highly regarded dressage judge. Jane lives in Wiltshire.
