About the Author
Stanlynn Daugherty has been leading llamas into the wilderness since 1984. On her ranch in the Wallowa Valley of northeast Oregon she keeps a herd of more than thirty llamas, specializing in breeding and training pack llamas. As a commercial llama packer she has led trips for the Sierra Club, Elderhostel, Womantrek, the High Desert Museum and other groups, as well as guiding Learn to Llama Pack trips for prospective packers. Horse experience from the age of five, participation in rodeos and mule packing, and several years as a travel agent provided the background for her llama activities. She has servied on the Packing Committee and Board of Directors of the International Llama Association, and on the Board of Directors of the Eastern Oregon Outfitters and Guides Association. Stanlynn is a two-time recipient of the International Llama Associations Pushmi-Pullyu award for her work in disseminating information on llama packing, and has taught packing clinics across! the United States, as well as in France and Switzerland.
