Book Description
These small, longhaired dogs make loyal companions, but their luxurious coats require constant grooming. Written especially for dog lovers who have just acquired a pedigreed pup or are about to purchase one, the titles in this series describe the traits, needs, and general characteristics of the title breed. Is the dog adaptable to apartment living or does it need roaming space and daily exercise? Is it good with children? Is it prone to special health problems? These and many other questions are answered in beautifully-produced hardcover volumes, filled with color photos and attractive sidebars.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that Toy Dogs are no more than lap dogs, but in a special chapter devoted to the versatile Yorkie, we see how false this notion is. The chapter features Yorkies who compete in Mini Agility, in Competitive obedience, and in Flyball. It even describes an unusual Yorkie who works as a hearing dog, providing much-needed help and companionship for his owner.

The Yorkshire Terrier is a stunning show dog, and breed enthusiasts will find advice on exhibiting a dog in the show ring, and starting a breeding program.

Finally, well-known veterinarian and author Trevor Turner writes on the health of the breed. He outlines a comprehensive program of preventive health care that will help your Yorkie to live a long and healthy life.

Richard Haynes comes from a Yorkshire family of dog lovers, and was given his first Yorkie as a thirteenth birthday present by his parents in 1963.
Yorkies quickly became a passion for Richard, and he began breeding, showing, and judging them. His kennel name, Eduracum, is Latin for ?York,? and this affix has graced some fine dogs, including Ch. Eburacum Paladin and German Ch. Eburacum Peregrine.
With his partner, John Geraghty, Richard continues breeding Yorkies, maintaining some of the famous old British lines. He also shows occasionally.
Richard is a qualified Toy Group judge, and officiates regularly throughout Europe. He has had the privilege of judging at Crufts three times to date.
